'1923' Season 2, Episode 4 A Horrible Death + Unexpected Good News (SPOILERS ALERT)

Season 2, Episode 4 of 1923 premiered on Sunday (March 16), and it featured violent confrontations, a number of deaths, and some truly unexpected good news for the struggling Dutton family.

As Episode 3 concluded, we saw Alexandra (Julia Schlaepfer) being followed into the restroom at a train station in New York City, where she is about to board a plane and begin her overland journey to Montana.

As Episode 4 — titled “Journey the Rivers of Iron” — begins, he surprises her while she is freshening up at the sink and assaults her. She says, “He took everything,” including all of her money and her friend’s bracelet.

In another scene from the episode, a surgeon operates on Zane (Brian Geraghty) by drilling into his head. But it turns out to be successful, and he recovers after a difficult period.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth (Michelle Randolph) is extremely depressed and takes it out on Jack (Darren Mann). But after Jacob (Harrison Ford) talks to her, she lightens up—especially when she discovers she is pregnant.

In Episode 4, Spencer (Brandon Sklenar) is on foot and encounters the local sheriff, who is aware that he played a role in Luca’s death. He ends up having to jump a train and kill several people who are attempting to kill him.

Banner Creighton (Jerome Flynn) remains conflicted about his work for Donald Whitfield (Timothy Dalton), but his wife is now on board, as long as it benefits them. However, it’s especially difficult for him because the prostitute Whitfield has been living with murdered the other girl they’ve been holding captive, which means he must dispose of her body.

Teonna Rainwater (Aminah Nieves) also finds herself in trouble in Episode 4, as her wanted poster is plastered all over the place while she, her father, and boyfriend try to hide.

As always, the episode ends with more questions than answers. Will Alexandra get to Montana? Will Spencer arrive in time to help his family? Will Whitfield be successful in his attempt to seize the land? Will Zane fully recover?

1923 airs every Sunday on Paramount+.
