2024 Wichita County Hit-and-Run Suspect Arrested

The suspect in a 2024 hit-and-run crash that left a man badly hurt is now behind bars. Authorities have confirmed that Stan Miller, Jr., from Plano, Texas, was booked into jail on Tuesday, April 1, and charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury.

The original crash took place on July 16, 2024, on U.S. Highway 287 near Peterson Road in Wichita County.

What Happened on Highway 287?

According to the Wichita County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a crash involving a white box truck and a work truck loaded with tires.

The victim told officers he was driving on Highway 287 when the box truck, later identified as being driven by Miller, tried to enter the highway. The victim had to quickly switch lanes to avoid a crash, which caused his own truck to become unstable due to the heavy load.

He pulled over to fix the load in the bed of his truck. That’s when things turned violent.

Shocking Details of the Assault

The victim said that Miller also pulled over, stopping a short distance behind him. When the victim stepped out of his vehicle, Miller drove forward, allegedly pinning the man between the two trucks.

Deputies said the victim remained trapped until Miller stopped, reversed his truck, and then drove away, passing the victim as he lay on the ground in pain.

A semi-truck driver nearby recorded the entire incident on a dash camera, providing key evidence in the case.

The Victim’s Injuries

The victim suffered serious injuries in the attack, including:

  • A lacerated spleen
  • A fractured humerus (upper arm bone)
  • Multiple broken ribs

He was first taken to United Regional and later transferred to John Peter Smith Hospital for further treatment.

How Authorities Tracked Down Miller

Investigators used electronic log (e-log) information from Miller’s employer, which showed that he was driving the truck at the location, date, and time of the incident. This matched the victim’s account and the dash cam video.

Based on this evidence, a warrant was issued, and Miller was arrested and booked into jail. He is currently being held on a $100,000 bond.
