A 40-year-old man, L. Osborne, has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole after pleading guilty to the first-degree murder of 22-year-old D. Mejia. Osborne orchestrated a horrific act of revenge after Mejia reported him for indecent assault.
The brutal killing, which took place in April 2024, shocked the Tennessee community and highlighted the tragic consequences of unresolved violence and drug-fueled rage.
The Crime and Osborne’s Retaliation
The events leading to Mejia’s death began on April 3, 2024, when she reported to police that Osborne had sexually assaulted her after she passed out at his home.
Mejia had been drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana with Osborne, and when she regained consciousness, she discovered she had been partially undressed and her tampon had been removed. DNA evidence later confirmed the assault.
