Wichita Falls, Texas – The Wichita Falls Chamber of Commerce is taking new steps to support the city’s economic growth, with help from the city council and local development leaders.
On April 1, 2025, during the regular city council session, the council approved up to $500,000 in funding to help the chamber identify and secure retail site locations within Wichita Falls. The goal is to meet growing demand as the city continues to expand.
Who’s Funding the Project?
The funds will come from the Wichita Falls Economic Development Corporation (WFEDC), commonly known as the 4A Board. This initiative directly supports the council’s strategic goal of economic development by creating more retail options and attracting new industries.
Chamber CEO: Demand is Growing
During the meeting, Chamber CEO Ron Kitchens spoke to council members about the increasing demand for retail spaces as the community continues to grow. He shared that most of the chamber’s existing properties are already under contract, highlighting the need for more available retail space.
This funding will help the chamber act quickly when new retail opportunities arise, ensuring that Wichita Falls can compete with other cities for economic investments.
What Are the Goals Behind the Funding?
As part of the funding resolution, seven key findings from the WFEDC were adopted. These include:
- Creating primary jobs
- Improving retail availability
- Enhancing the city’s livability
- Attracting new industries focused on primary job creation
- Supporting the missions of Sheppard Air Force Base
These efforts are not just about retail — they’re about improving the overall quality of life and bringing in long-term business investments that will benefit the Wichita Falls economy.
With the approval in place, the Wichita Falls Chamber will begin the search for new retail site locations, aiming to fill current gaps and prepare for future growth. The focus will be on strategic areas within city limits that align with the city’s vision for development.
Residents and businesses can expect more updates in the coming months as projects move forward.
