The Families First Economic Support Pilot Program (FFESP) in Sacramento County, California, cut off the flow of resources to 200 households who were chosen to receive a $725 direct monthly payment.
These resources were supposed to be distributed in four instalments from 15 December 2024 to 15 November 2025, but the delay affected the entire program, and the instalment due on 15 March has obviously not arrived.
What is the FFESP?
The FFESP is intended to provide financial assistance to low-income families in the county in order to alleviate financial hardship and prevent involvement in the child welfare system.
This pilot program aims to combat the economic insecurity that leads to family complications, which can lead to state intervention after cases of child neglect in the home are discovered.

Why have the resources not been dispersed?
Information is starting to flow in, and some details are being clarified from the source: According to a Sacramento County spokesperson, none of the payments have been distributed, despite the fact that they were scheduled to begin in December. The government has briefly stated that the program is being updated, along with a new payment schedule, but has not provided an explanation for the problems.
To be eligible, the families awaiting payment had to apply in a lottery system that closed on October 13 and determined that 200 families in six ZIP codes in Sacramento County would receive the aid: 95815, 95821, 95823, 95825, 95828, and 95838.
