If you were anywhere near Wichita Falls, Texas, yesterday, you felt it—the wind was absolutely wild. Some locals are even calling it the strongest wind gusts they’ve ever experienced. And, as expected, Mother Nature left a little chaos in her wake.
High Winds Cause Downtown Mishap
For those familiar with 7th Street and Ohio in downtown Wichita Falls, you’ve probably noticed two buildings on the corner.
- The right-side building serves as a warehouse for Alley Cats Vintage, a downtown shop. The owner frequently maintains and updates the property, fixing cracks and giving it fresh coats of paint.
- The left-side building, however, has been vacant for years, sitting windowless and mysterious.
Well, thanks to yesterday’s extreme winds, we finally got a peek inside.
Wind Blows Open the Mystery Building’s Door
As the gusts howled through the city, the wind blew the door wide open on the vacant downtown building—something locals had never seen happen before.
Curious to finally get a glimpse inside, I captured a video, which you can check out below.

By this morning, the door had been sealed shut again, leaving the mystery intact.
What’s Next for This Downtown Building?
The empty building has been up for sale for a long time, but so far, no one has stepped in to renovate it.
With more development happening downtown, maybe one day, this forgotten space will turn into something great—perhaps another bar or restaurant? Wichita Falls could always use more good hangout spots!
Until then, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens to this mysterious downtown landmark.
