Sit the... Down! White Woman From North Carolina Gets on a School Bus and Starts Yelling Racist Things at a Black Student, Ends Up in Handcuffs

A white mother from North Carolina was arrested for boarding a Currituck County school bus and launching a profanity-filled rant, including a racial slur directed at a Black student. The incident has sparked widespread outrage and a review of school safety measures.

What Happened on the Bus?

On May 15, Samantha Danielle Spoor, 35, from Moyock, boarded a school bus carrying middle school students. She used harsh language and threatened the children, daring them to tell their parents if they had a problem.

In a now-viral video, Spoor can be heard shouting profanities, telling the students to “sit down” and specifically targeting the student filming her with a racial slur.

Why Did Spoor Act This Way?

According to Savannah Bailey, an eighth grader on the bus, Spoor’s son said he had been kicked by another student. Spoor apparently confronted the students because of this. Savannah said she stood up to hear better but was mistakenly targeted by Spoor’s insults.

Savannah’s parents expressed shock and concern about the safety of their child on the bus after the incident.

Legal Actions and School Response

Spoor was arrested on May 19 and faces charges of trespassing, disorderly conduct, and communicating threats. She was released on a $2,000 bond pending trial.

The Currituck County School District condemned Spoor’s behavior and confirmed that only authorized personnel and students are allowed on buses. They are reviewing safety procedures to prevent future incidents.

Family’s Reaction and Concerns

Savannah’s parents, Christina and Anthony Bailey, shared their worries about the incident. Christina said, “To have a parent step on my child’s bus… you don’t know what could have happened.” Anthony said he’s unsure if Savannah should continue taking the bus.

The family has left the matter to law enforcement but remains deeply shaken.
