Vehicle burglaries have long been an issue in Lufkin’s Brookhollow Subdivision, and recent events show that thieves continue to target the area. Lufkin Police are now seeking help from the public in identifying a suspect caught on camera attempting to break into vehicles.
If you have any information, you could help recover stolen items and assist law enforcement in keeping the community safe.
Brookhollow Vehicle Burglaries: A Recurring Issue
Brookhollow has been a target for thieves for over a decade. According to The Lufkin Daily News, a similar wave of vehicle burglaries occurred on December 4, 2014, when thieves broke into seven vehicles in one night.
Unfortunately, the trend continues. Recent incidents show that criminals are still finding easy opportunities, especially with valuables left in unlocked vehicles.
Police Release Footage of New Suspect
Lufkin Police Department (LPD) is investigating another series of burglaries in Brookhollow. A suspect was caught on surveillance footage trying door handles in the neighborhood.
One of the clearest images appears to be from a Tesla vehicle camera system, showing the suspect in action. Although they attempted to cover their face, police believe someone who knows them might recognize them.
Among the stolen items reported, firearms were taken, making this case even more urgent.
How You Can Help
If you have any information about the suspect, the burglaries, or the whereabouts of the stolen items, Lufkin Police and Crime Stoppers are asking for assistance.
- Tips can be submitted anonymously
- No need to provide your name
- Crime Stoppers offers cash rewards for helpful tips
While no reward amount has been announced yet, reporting a tip could help your neighbors and make a difference in keeping Brookhollow safer.
LPD Responds to Fentanyl Exposure Rumors
In a separate case, Lufkin Police recently investigated a report of a driver experiencing a reaction after touching a sticky substance on a gas pump handle.
However, officers have not found any credible evidence linking this incident to fentanyl exposure, despite viral social media warnings. Police believe the claims resemble older social media hoaxes meant to scare the public.
As of now, there is no confirmed law enforcement case of fentanyl exposure happening in this way.
