A heartbreaking discovery was made this week in Shreveport when authorities found the body of an infant inside a linen bag at an industrial laundry facility. Shreveport Police responded quickly after being called to the scene.
Unusual Circumstances Raise Questions
Investigators soon realized this case was unlike typical crime scenes. While the infant was found deceased, it appeared the baby had been dead for quite some time and had already been prepared for funeral services.
Infant’s Body Traced to Dallas Funeral Home
The Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office joined the investigation and traced the infant’s body back to a funeral home in Dallas, Texas. Officials confirmed that the infant had already undergone funeral services at the Dallas facility.
Although the Texas funeral home acknowledged the body came from their facility, they did not immediately explain how the infant’s body ended up at a laundry facility in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Texas Authorities Take Over Investigation
Given the unusual nature of the case and the cross-state connection, Shreveport officials have handed the investigation over to Texas authorities. The Texas Mortuary Board in Austin is now leading the inquiry, promising a thorough review of the situation.
