A Florida man has been charged with first-degree murder after allegedly fatally stabbing a well-known stylist, Hailey Hosford, in a parking garage as she was waiting for a friend.
The tragic incident took place on the early morning of May 28, 2025 in Sunrise, Florida, and the suspect, Jackson Sagesse, 21, was arrested shortly after the attack.
The Timeline of Events
The disturbing details of the attack were revealed in an arrest report obtained by Law&Crime, shedding light on the events leading to Hosford’s death. Police responded to a 911 call from a man who reported being stabbed in the neck by another man at an apartment complex.
Upon arrival, authorities discovered the caller, as well as Hosford, who was found unresponsive and later pronounced dead at the scene.
Surveillance footage from the parking garage where the attack occurred painted a chilling picture. The video shows Hosford and her male friend entering the garage in a black sedan, where the friend left the car shortly before Sagesse appeared on the scene.
One minute after the friend’s departure, Sagesse was seen approaching the car with what appeared to be a metallic object in his hand, reflecting light.
The Attack
According to police, Hosford initially attempted to hide in the car after spotting Sagesse, but he forced the door open and attacked her. A stabbing motion was clearly visible on the video, which captured the horrifying moment.
The male friend returned to the scene and confronted Sagesse, but he too was stabbed. Despite his injuries, the friend managed to escape and call for help.
After the attack, Sagesse reportedly tried to start the car from the driver’s seat but failed. He then got out of the car and appeared to search the ground, likely looking for evidence.
Sagesse’s Arrest and Confession
Authorities were able to identify Sagesse through the surveillance video, with an employee from the apartment complex recognizing him and providing his home address. Police went to his residence, where they found him wearing the same clothes he had been seen in on the video.
Upon searching his home, officers discovered a knife in his pocket that matched the kitchen knife set found at the crime scene. Investigators also noticed that the knife block in Sagesse’s kitchen was missing two steak knives.
When Sagesse was taken into custody, he reportedly admitted to killing Hosford, saying, “I just killed someone and walked away.” Though he initially claimed the attack was in self-defense, police stated that he did not explain what had made him feel threatened.
Victim’s Background and Family’s Statement
Hailey Hosford, 27, was a popular hair stylist in the area and had a strong presence in her community. Her stepfather spoke to local NBC affiliate WTVJ, expressing the family’s devastation, saying, “Our family is destroyed. This is beyond horrific. We wish this upon no family to deal with something like this.”
Legal Charges and Current Status
