Many Texans were excited about an event promising to celebrate the beloved taco with exhibits, history, and an all-you-can-eat taco bar. However, what seemed like a dream event quickly turned into a nightmare, as ticket holders were left without tacos—or refunds.
Now, with no signs of rescheduled dates and the event’s online presence disappearing, it appears that Texans have fallen victim to a scam.
The Taco Museum Event—What Was Promised?
The Taco Museum was advertised as an interactive event where attendees could:
- Learn about the history of tacos
- View taco-related exhibits
- Enjoy an all-you-can-eat taco bar
It first took place in California, where attendees were far from satisfied. Online reviews were overwhelmingly negative, with many calling the event a scam for failing to deliver on its promises.
Despite the backlash, the event was still set to travel to Texas, with scheduled dates in:
- Austin – February 15
- San Antonio – February 22
- Fort Worth – March 1
But when the dates arrived, the events never happened—leaving ticket holders both taco-less and out of money.
Was the Texas Taco Museum Event Ever Actually Planned?
Many ticket buyers had concerns before the event dates even arrived. The Austin American-Statesman reported that several people reached out, worried about whether the event was real.
One attendee didn’t find out their event was canceled until the morning of the scheduled date when they received an email stating:
“After careful deliberation, we’ve made the difficult decision to reschedule the event to March 8th. Please understand that we did not take this decision lightly. Given the short timing and the logistical challenges that arose, we felt this was the only viable option to ensure a smooth, safe, and enjoyable experience for all of our attendees.”
However, March 8th came and went, and no event took place. Even worse, both MySanAntonio and The Dallas Observer uncovered that the supposed venues never had the Taco Museum event officially scheduled in the first place.
The Event’s Online Presence Disappears
As of now:
- The event’s Facebook page has not been updated since last year
- The official website has been taken down
With no way for ticket holders to contact the organizers, it appears unlikely that refunds will be issued.
