Millions of Americans rely on Social Security payments to cover retirement, disability (SSDI), and Supplemental Security Income (SSI). For June 2025, the first round of payments will begin in just three days.

These payments typically start on the first day of the month, with others distributed throughout the month. This article breaks down the payment schedule, amounts, and any important changes or exceptions to be aware of.

Social Security Payment Dates for June 2025

The payment schedule for Social Security in June 2025 follows the regular timetable based on your birthdate or conditions.

  • Tuesday, June 3: Payments were issued for beneficiaries who began receiving benefits before May 1997, along with those who live outside the U.S. or receive both SSI and Social Security.
  • Wednesday, June 11: Payments for individuals whose birthdates are between the 1st and 10th of any month will be processed on this day.
  • Wednesday, June 18: Beneficiaries born between the 11th and 20th of any month will receive their payments on this day. However, the Juneteenth national holiday (June 19) could cause a slight one-day delay.

Payment Amounts and Adjustments

  • Retirement Benefits: The average monthly retirement benefit is $1,976 for individuals, and $3,089 for couples. For those who start receiving payments at age 70 and have a history of high earnings, the maximum benefit can go up to $5,108 per month.
  • SSDI Benefits: The average SSDI payment is $1,580 per month. The amount you receive depends on your work and tax history, so it can vary widely.
  • SSI Benefits: The federal maximum for SSI is $967 for individuals, with couples receiving up to $1,450. These amounts can be reduced based on other income or living arrangements.

Why SSI Won’t Be Paid in June

Unlike other Social Security benefits, SSI payments for June 2025 will not be issued this month. Normally, SSI is paid on the first day of each month, but when that day falls on a holiday or weekend, payments are issued earlier.

Since June 1, 2025, was a Sunday, the payment for June was issued on Friday, May 30, 2025. As a result, there will be no SSI payments in June.

However, beneficiaries who receive SSI were given two payments in May: one on May 1 (for May) and the other on May 30 (for June). This does not affect the total annual amount.
