Alabama – An Alabama elementary school employee was arrested earlier this week on several charges stemming from alleged sexual misconduct involving minors.
The Grand Jury indicted her on charges of first-degree sexual abuse, second-degree sexual abuse, and forcing a child to enter a vehicle or residence for immoral purposes. The alleged incidents occurred outside of school grounds and did not involve her students.
Alabama authorities launched an investigation after receiving a tip-off about inappropriate behavior by the 49-year-old woman, H. Osment, involving minors.
The Detective Division, in collaboration with the District Attorney’s Office, conducted an extensive investigation. A local children’s advocacy center assisted in conducting forensic interviews and examinations on the juvenile victims.
The indictment alleges that on April 4, the defendant, an elementary school teacher, took a child aged 12 to 16 into a bathroom for sexual purposes.
According to the indictment, the defendant allegedly forced sexual contact while at a location other than school. She allegedly had sexual contact with another person who was under 16 but over 12 years old. Court documents stated that she allegedly enticed, aIIured, persuaded, or invited a child to enter a bathroom for the purpose of a sexual act.
In response to the allegations, the school district placed the defendant on administrative leave in early April 2025. The school district emphasized that the alleged conduct occurred after school hours and off school grounds, and they declined to provide additional information due to the ongoing investigation.
After being arrested, the 49-year-old woman was booked into the county jail and later released on a $45,000 bond. Details about her statements to law enforcement during the arrest have not been made public.
Alabama authorities urge anyone with additional information about this case to call 205-668-3505. The investigation is still ongoing as authorities seek to determine the full scope of the alleged misconduct.
