Cool, Gray Day Expected for New York City on Monday

New York, NY – The skies over the New York City region will remain overcast on Monday, with cooler-than-average conditions settling in and isolated drizzle possible throughout the day.

According to the National Weather Service New York office, temperatures will peak in the upper 60s to low 70s, significantly below the usual 80°F high for mid-June. Light east to northeast winds between 5 and 10 mph will contribute to a damp, slightly chilly atmosphere.

From the Jersey Shore to southern Connecticut, expect mostly cloudy skies, with occasional light rain or drizzle. Bridgeport and Stamford will see highs near 70°F, while Montauk may not surpass 67°F. Central Park is forecast to reach only 69°F, and Newark is unlikely to break 70°F by mid-afternoon.

Drivers should anticipate damp roads during both morning and evening commutes, particularly on coastal routes such as I-95 and the Belt Parkway. While no flooding or severe weather is expected, light rain could reduce visibility during peak traffic hours.

The unseasonably cool stretch will continue into Tuesday morning, with another chance for drizzle before warmer, drier air returns later in the week.
