These adjustments are in response to cost-of-living increases (COLA), which were set at 2.5% for food stamp benefits and other federal programs such as Social Security benefits. These changes are expected to provide some relief to households facing rising living costs.
SNAP Benefits in Florida: Maximum Amounts
The amount of SNAP benefits allocated to each household depends on its net income, which is determined by subtracting allowable deductions from gross income.
Deductions can include housing, childcare, and medical expenses, meaning households of the same size could receive different amounts depending on their individual circumstances.
Here are the maximum monthly benefit amounts for different household sizes in Florida (and in other contiguous states and DC) for fiscal year 2025:
1 person: $292
2 people: $536
3 people: $768
4 people: $975
5 people: $1,158
6 people: $1,390
7 people: $1,536
8 people: $1,756
For households with more than 8 members, an additional $220 is added per person.
SNAP Payment Distribution Schedule in June 2025
Florida’s Department of Children and Families (DCF) distributes SNAP benefits monthly between the 1st and 28th. The exact date a beneficiary will receive their payment depends on the algorithm that uses the ninth and eighth digits of their case number, read in reverse order. The tenth digit is ignored in this process.
For June 2025, the payment schedule is as follows:
June 16, 2025: Cases with digits 54-57.
June 17, 2025: Cases with digits 58-60.
June 18, 2025: Cases with digits 61-64.
June 19, 2025: Cases with digits 65-67.
June 20, 2025: Cases with digits 68-71.
June 21, 2025: Cases with digits 72-74.
June 22, 2025: Cases with digits 75-78.
These dates represent the third installment of SNAP benefits for June 2025. The DCF will distribute benefits based on the specific sequence of digits in the case number, which helps organize the disbursement.
Eligibility Requirements for SNAP Benefits
To qualify for SNAP benefits in Florida in 2025, applicants must meet several key criteria. These include:
U.S. Citizenship or Legal Residency
Applicants must be U.S. citizens or legal residents.
Florida Residency
Applicants must be residents of Florida and must apply within the state.
Income Limits:
-Gross income cannot exceed 130% of the federal poverty level.
-Net income, after deductions, must be below 100% of the federal poverty level. These limits are based on household size.
Liquid Resources
Applicants cannot have more than $2,000 in liquid resources (such as cash or bank accounts). This limit increases to $3,000 if the household includes an elderly or disabled person.
Work Requirements
Adults without dependents, aged 18-49, must work at least 20 hours per week, participate in approved training programs, or engage in other employment programs to maintain eligibility.
The application process for SNAP in Florida also includes a mandatory interview, where applicants must prove their identity, Florida residency, and income. All required documentation must be submitted, and the process must be completed within 30 days of the initial application.
