West Virginia – A 51-year-old woman, B. Miller, is facing serious criminal charges after allegedly stabbing her 58-year-old ex-boyfriend, J. Vineyard, during a late-night domestic dispute.
The violent altercation took place at Vineyard’s home, with Miller attacking him over his communication with other women.
She has been charged with malicious assault, a felony, and domestic battery, a misdemeanor, in connection with the incident. Miller has pleaded not guilty to both charges.
The Stabbing Incident
The shocking incident unfolded on June 3, 2025, when the police department responded to a 911 call reporting a stabbing at a residence. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found Vineyard standing in his living room with a serious knife wound to his chest.
According to the criminal complaint, Vineyard told the officer that Miller had arrived at his home and refused to return his house key.
The situation escalated when Miller allegedly became enraged after discovering that Vineyard had been texting other women. The argument grew louder, and Vineyard feared it would draw the attention of his landlord, possibly leading to his eviction.
Vineyard stated that after repeatedly asking Miller to leave, she suddenly pulled out a long, serrated hunting knife and stabbed him below the center of his chest.
The attack left a wound that was about two centimeters deep and four centimeters long, along with a second cut that appeared to have been made as the knife was pulled out in a downward slicing motion.
After the stabbing, Miller allegedly fled the scene in a vehicle, leaving Vineyard bleeding in the home.
Miller’s Arrest and Evidence
The following day, a patrol officer spotted Miller driving along a road and pulled her over. During the traffic stop, the officer detained Miller and searched her vehicle. In the trunk, hidden under a bag, the officer found a pair of flip-flops with what appeared to be fresh blood on the sides.
Miller was reportedly wearing a blood-stained dress at the time. In addition to the bloody clothing, police also recovered a knife matching Vineyard’s description of the weapon used in the attack.
The knife was still in its sheath, with a cut in it, which could indicate that the knife was partially or fully inside the sheath during the stabbing.
A second woman was in the vehicle with Miller at the time of the stop. That individual was also arrested after officers allegedly found drug paraphernalia in her possession.
Conflicting Statements and Evidence
During questioning, Miller gave conflicting statements to police. Initially, she claimed that she had left Vineyard’s home before any violence occurred.
However, she later changed her story, admitting that Vineyard “got in her face,” prompting her to use the knife in self-defense. She also insisted that she did not remember pulling the knife from its sheath.
Despite Miller’s claims, officers noted the stab wounds on Vineyard, the recovered knife, and the blood-stained items in the vehicle as significant evidence in the case. Additionally, eyewitness accounts further supported the charges against Miller.
Legal Proceedings and Victim’s Recovery
Miller is currently being held at the regional jail on a $10,000 cash surety bond. No trial date has been set yet, but prosecutors are expected to pursue the felony assault charge vigorously. Meanwhile, Vineyard is recovering from his injuries and is cooperating with law enforcement as the investigation continues.
This case has raised concerns about domestic violence and the dangers of escalating arguments between intimate partners. Authorities are working to ensure that justice is served and that the facts surrounding the incident are thoroughly examined.
