A North Carolina man, Michael Sharron Wright, 41, has been arrested and charged with double homicide following the deaths of Teresa Davis, 63, and her son, Joseph Jeffreys Jr., 26, on June 15. The victims were found dead from gunshot wounds after an argument that reportedly began over garbage.
The Argument and Tragic Outcome
According to witnesses, the altercation began when Jeffreys confronted Wright about several garbage bags that had been thrown onto Davis’ yard. The confrontation escalated, leading to the shooting of both Davis and Jeffreys.
Tennisha Eaton, a friend of Davis, expressed the shock and heartbreak of the situation, saying, “It was over trash, over some freakin’ trash. This woman is gone. This boy is gone, over some trash.”
Witnesses also revealed that Davis had recently moved in with Jeffreys, and the family had returned to the house to collect a few things when the shooting occurred.
Tragically, Jeffreys’ children were in the car at the time of the shooting and had to witness the deaths of their father and grandmother. Eaton added, “That’s so heartbreaking for the grandkids, to see their daddy and their grandmother get killed. That’s senseless.”
Wright’s Past and Current Charges
Wright, who was last seen fleeing the scene in a Hyundai Sonata with a North Carolina license plate KEE-6554, is now facing homicide charges. Police reports indicate that Wright had previously served 11 years in prison for the killing of his uncle.
The motive for the current crime appears to be related to the argument over the trash, but the situation quickly escalated into a fatal confrontation. The senseless violence has left the community in shock, especially given the tragic impact on the young children who witnessed the event.
The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to apprehend Wright and gather more details about the circumstances leading up to the shootings.
