In 2025 - Dates for SSI Payments Will Change a Few Times Here's Why

In June 2025, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients may have noticed something unusual: no payment was made during the usual deposit time.

Normally, SSI payments are made on the 1st of each month, but since June 1st was a Sunday, the Social Security Administration (SSA) moved the payment to Friday, May 30. This decision helped avoid a delay due to the weekend and ensured the funds were delivered on time.

Because the payment was made earlier in May, some beneficiaries may have felt like the June payment was missing. But rest assured, this was just part of the SSA’s policy to adjust for weekends and holidays.

What Are “Double Payments”?

When the 1st of the month falls on a weekend or holiday, it results in what some call “double payments.” This doesn’t mean you’re getting extra money—it just means you’ll receive two payments in one month.

Here’s how it works:

The June payment for SSI recipients was moved to May 30, 2025, because June 1 was a Sunday.

The next payment for July is then pushed to July 1, meaning no payment in June.

Similarly, the same thing will happen in August and October 2025. For both months, double payments will occur. This simply means two payments will be made in one month to cover the next.

For example:

August: The payment for September will be made on August 29, 2025, because September 1 falls on Labor Day.

October: The payment for November will be made on October 31, as November 1 falls on a Saturday.

In those months, no payment will be made in September and November since the benefits for those months were advanced.

Double Payments in the Second Half of 2025:

August: Payment made for September (August 29).

October: Payment made for November (October 31).

September & November: No payments because they were advanced in August and October.
