Texas – A 21-year-old mother, J. Ciemons, has been charged with injury to a child and manslaughter following the death of her 8-month-old son, Courtlyn, earlier this year. Texas authorities announced on June 13 that arrest warrants had been issued for the mother, who was taken into custody on June 20.
Tragic Incident and Admission
According to investigators, the mother admitted to placing her child into scalding water after becoming frustrated when the child soiled his diaper. The baby suffered severe burns from the incident.
Two weeks later, emergency responders were called to a residence where they found Courtlyn unresponsive. Despite efforts to revive him, the child was pronounced dead at the scene.
