Extreme Heat Alert Las Vegas Faces Scorching Weekend and Early July Heatwave

Las Vegas, Nevada, is preparing for a triple-digit heatwave as temperatures soar through the weekend and into early July.

The National Weather Service has issued a summer weather alert, warning of dangerously high temperatures that will challenge both residents and visitors alike. Here’s what to expect over the next few days:

Weekend Forecast: Scorching Heat and Clear Skies

According to the NWS Las Vegas office, the heat will intensify starting Saturday, with highs reaching 106°F by mid-afternoon. Sunday will bring even hotter conditions, with temperatures climbing to 107°F.

Monday is expected to be the hottest day, with temperatures topping out near 109°F, making it crucial to stay hydrated and limit sun exposure, particularly in areas like Las Vegas Boulevard, Paradise, and Sunrise Manor.

Extreme Heat Index and Safety Tips

The Las Vegas Strip, surrounding neighborhoods, and areas near Harry Reid International Airport will experience extreme heat indexes, meaning the temperature will feel even hotter due to humidity and the urban heat effect.

Outdoor workers, elderly residents, and anyone without reliable cooling should take extra precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses like heatstroke.

Limited Relief: Light Winds and Clear Skies

Expect light winds and clear skies through the weekend, offering little to no relief from the heat. The high temperatures will persist through Tuesday, continuing to make conditions oppressive and dry.
