Florida – In a shocking act of domestic violence, C. Anderson, 25, has been arrested after he ambushed his ex-girlfriend outside her home and stabbed her a dozen times in front of their two young children.
The brutal attack occurred in broad daylight and was captured on surveillance footage, leading to multiple felony charges against Anderson, including attempted first-degree murder, aggravated stalking, and violating a no-contact order.
The Horrific Attack
The incident took place when the victim, along with her 3-year-old and 5-year-old children, returned to their home. Anderson, who was under a restraining order due to a previous domestic violence arrest involving the same woman, is accused of lying in wait outside her residence.
According to authorities, surveillance footage shows the victim and her children walking toward the front door when Anderson suddenly appeared and violently confronted her.
Witnesses say that Anderson shouted, “What’s up, b—?” before launching into the brutal stabbing. He allegedly stabbed the woman in the head, causing her to fall to the ground.
As she struggled, Anderson continued to stab her at least seven more times while she was lying on the ground. In a horrifying moment, as the woman tried to get up, her 5-year-old child ran toward her, only for Anderson to stab her four more times, including once in the neck.
Despite the severity of her injuries, the woman managed to scream for help and flee to a neighbor’s house, which authorities believe may have saved her life. She was immediately rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
Anderson’s Escape and Arrest
Instead of contacting authorities, Anderson fled the scene and drove himself to a medical center to seek treatment for a “slice injury” to his hand, which police believe was sustained during the attack. Medical staff at the center notified the police, who quickly connected the dots, leading them to arrest Anderson.
Surveillance video and the blood-like substance found in Anderson’s vehicle provided key evidence linking him to the crime. Police noted that Anderson’s clothing matched what he was wearing in the footage from the attack, and his vehicle was seen following the victim’s car just before the stabbing.
Previous Domestic Violence History
During questioning, Anderson admitted to a prior domestic violence arrest involving the same victim in February 2023. The incident in February involved allegations of domestic battery by strangulation, which led to the issuance of a no-contact order against Anderson.
Despite the order, police say he had been stalking the victim, even following her vehicle and harassing her new partner on Facebook.
Anderson reportedly told investigators that he had become frustrated over the reduced time he was spending with his children since the February arrest.
He also admitted to being upset after believing that his ex-girlfriend had started a new relationship. Anderson claimed that he had no clear memory of the attack but acknowledged the injury to his hand.
The Impact on the Victim’s Family and Children
The case has deeply shocked the community, particularly given the presence of the children during such a violent act. Child Protective Services (CPS) is now involved to ensure the safety and well-being of the two young children who witnessed the attack.
The victim’s family is rallying around her as she continues to recover in the hospital, and they have expressed their outrage over the brutal assault.
Legal Proceedings and Future Actions
Anderson is being held without bail at the county jail and is scheduled for a court appearance on July 28, 2023. Given the violent nature of the assault and his prior history of domestic violence, prosecutors are expected to pursue the case aggressively. Anderson faces a potential life sentence if convicted of the charges.
The victim, whose identity has not been publicly released, continues to recover in the hospital. Her family has expressed gratitude to the neighbors and first responders who helped save her life and ensure her children’s safety.
