Texas Amusement Park Raises the Bar on Menu Offerings

Theme parks are known for their classic snacks—cotton candy, corn dogs, turkey legs, and funnel cakes—but Six Flags Over Texas is shaking things up in a big way. In an effort to elevate its dining experience, the park has hired a chef with Michelin Star credentials to reinvent its menu.

Meet Chef Douwe Iedema, an internationally acclaimed chef with experience working in Europe, NATO headquarters, the Dutch Royal Family, and Michelin-starred restaurants. His goal? To bring fresh ingredients, homemade dishes, and gourmet flavors to one of Texas’ most beloved theme parks.

Six Flags Over Texas Introduces a Gourmet Menu

Why the Change?

As food trends and health-conscious eating habits evolve, Six Flags Over Texas is adapting by moving away from typical theme park fare to include:

  • Fresh, high-quality ingredients
  • Smoked-in-house meats
  • Handcrafted dishes
  • Healthy options

This marks a major shift for the park, which has been serving traditional amusement park food since it opened in 1961. To complement the new menu, Six Flags is also investing in renovations, re-theming two of its restaurants with updated interiors and exteriors.

Chef Iedema explains his vision:

“My goal is to reimagine the food options at our park so they rise to the level of the world-class roller coasters and immersive entertainment that our guests come to enjoy year after year.”
