A woman who accused Mike Tyson of raping and sexually assaulting her in a limousine in the 1990s has dropped her lawsuit against the former boxer.
The unidentified plaintiff accused the 58-year-old of attacking her after a night at an Albany nightclub in a $5 million lawsuit.
Tyson’s lawyer, Daniel Rubin, informed Judge Mitchell J. Katz in a new letter dated March 7 that the woman had decided to withdraw her lawsuit.
Rubin stated in his letter that he spoke with the woman’s lawyer, Darren Seilback, who stated that she would be ‘discontinuing this action with prejudice’.
That means the lawsuit cannot be refiled, and the letter also states that the two attorneys are ‘drafting a stipulation of discontinuance’.
Tyson had consistently denied the allegations made by the unknown woman, who claimed he ‘pulled my pants off and violently raped me’.
Rubin said in a statement, “We are pleased with the outcome, which is not surprising given the baseless allegations.”
‘Mr. Tyson withdraws all claims completely, with no compensation, concession, or settlement of any kind. This should never have been filed.’
The action was filed in New York under the state’s Adult Survivors Act, which gives sexual assault victims a one-year period to file lawsuits for assaults that occurred years or even decades ago.
DailyMail.com has contacted her representative, Darren Seilback, for comment on the latest developments.
Tyson, who was born in Brooklyn, rose to prominence as the undisputed world heavyweight champion from 1987 to 1990, but his life away from the ring has been turbulent.
Tyson was convicted of rape in 1992 and sentenced to three years in prison.
In 1997, he was disqualified for biting opponent Evander Holyfield in the ring and ripping off a portion of Holyfield’s ear in the process.
He was accused of domestic abuse by his first wife, Robin Givens, admitted to having a cocaine problem in his 40s, and filed for bankruptcy in 2003 after losing approximately $300 million in career earnings.
Givens claimed in divorce papers that their late-1980s marriage was marked by ‘unprovoked rages of violence and destruction.’
He recently gained a new younger audience with a bout against internet personality Jake Paul in November, which he lost.
