WF Firefighters Tackle Early Morning Blaze Near State Hospital

WICHITA FALLS, Texas— The Wichita Falls Fire Department reported that firefighters responded to a structure fire near North Texas State Hospital early this morning.

The blaze, which was initially reported as a grass fire, necessitated a full box alarm due to water supply issues and the size of the house.

At 3:26 a.m., Engine 8 was dispatched to investigate a fire near Earl and Mary, off Southwest Parkway.

When they arrived, they discovered a structure completely engulfed in flames, prompting the call for additional resources. The fire had been burning for some time before crews arrived, according to the department.

All Wichita Falls Fire Department crews have since cleared the scene, and there have been no reports of civilian injuries.

However, one firefighter was taken to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury and later released. The Wichita County Sheriff’s Office will conduct the investigation because the fire occurred within the county.
