Texas Woman Catfished, Morgan Wallen Romance Scam Revealed

Texas Woman Catfished, Morgan Wallen Romance Scam Revealed

A Texas woman did not just believe she was dating Morgan Wallen. She believed the singer had given her a job and sent her first-person videos.

She was duped, and the realization that everything was a lie is heartbreaking.

  • The popular Catfished YouTube channel recently focused in on Desiree’s story of being fooled by a Morgan Wallen impersonator.
  • The nearly 30-minute-long video (seen below) explores how a romance scam works as the hosts reveal the truth about what happened.
  • Desiree says she took on over $18,000 in debt and fears she might need to file for bankruptcy.

What Is Catfishing?

Catfishing occurs when someone creates a fake identity in order to persuade another person to provide financial information or make purchases on their behalf. Often, the scammer will fabricate a story that appeals to someone’s emotions or exploits their vulnerabilities.

Almost every scammer asks for money, gift cards, or other valuable items. Dozens of country music’s biggest and most popular stars have stated that they will never solicit money from fans, citing the fact that dozens of fans are duped each year.

Morgan Wallen Catfished Scam Exposed

Desiree’s (last name unknown) story demonstrates that the elderly and those with limited technological knowledge are not the only ones who are susceptible to scams.

The 34-year-old dancer claims she has always preferred to date someone with more money and prestige than her, which the channel’s hosts Drew and Breanne believe made her vulnerable in the first place.

“I needed validation at this time and I think I got it through this person,” Desiree shares.

What happens next is almost like a textbook online scam. She claims she direct messaged the real Morgan Wallen on Instagram simply to express her appreciation for his music. Later, a user with a similar Instagram handle direct messaged her, and they began a relationship.

Desiree felt that they were becoming more intimate over the next few days, weeks, or even months, but she had never met this person in person.

Instead, the fake Morgan sent numerous text messages and a video that the Catfished team later discovered was created using artificial intelligence. When you look closely, the teeth move in an unnatural manner.

The actual video was uploaded to Wallen’s Instagram page in 2022. It has since been deleted, but in it he discussed the success of his Dangerous album.

This particular scam takes a distinctive turn when the fake Morgan offers Desiree a job. She applies and goes through the hiring process with what she believes is a legitimate staffing agency.

She then provides personal information such as her social security number, bank account number, credit card numbers, and more. Her job with Wallen’s charity is to spend the money she has been given to purchase a large number of expensive gift cards.

The Catfished team contacted Wallen’s agency and the staffing company, but neither responded, although at the end of the video, a screen appears with text indicating that neither were involved in the scam or had ever communicated with Desiree.

“This is all one big fat lie,” host Drew says.

Desiree breaks down in the last few minutes of the video.

Even though she came to the channel with her story, and many people questioned her romance when she posted about it on social media, she appeared to believe that the real Morgan Wallen wanted to be with her.

The most heartbreaking moment, without a doubt, is when she says she may have to file for bankruptcy.
