Confirmed: Pensioners Who Must Wait Until the Second, Third, or Fourth Week of April for Benefits

One of the biggest benefits of receiving a Social Security retirement check in the United States is knowing when your payment will arrive. However, not all beneficiaries get their money at the same time. Depending on your birthdate and when you started receiving benefits, you may receive your check earlier or later in the month.

In April 2025, there will be four different Social Security payment dates, and your payment date will depend on which group you belong to.

Social Security Payment Schedule for April 2025

Here are the official Social Security payment dates for April 2025:

April 3, 2025 – Group 1

This payment goes to retirees who started receiving Social Security before May 1997.

April 9, 2025 – Group 2

This group includes retirees whose birthdays fall between the 1st and 10th of any month and who started receiving benefits after May 1997.

April 16, 2025 – Group 3

This payment is for those with birthdays between the 11th and 20th, also after May 1997.

April 23, 2025 – Group 4

Retirees with birthdays between the 21st and 31st will get their payment on this date, as long as their benefits started after May 1997.

Important Note About Direct Deposit

If you use Direct Deposit, your payment will be available on your scheduled date without delay. But if you haven’t set up Direct Deposit, your check might take a few extra days to reach your bank account, depending on mail or bank processing times.

To avoid delays, it’s always a good idea to activate Direct Deposit through the SSA website or by contacting your bank.

Extra SSI Payment on April 1, 2025

In addition to retirement payments, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments will be sent on April 1, 2025. This benefit is meant for low-income individuals or those with disabilities, and can be received in addition to your regular Social Security retirement or disability benefit.
