Without Blinking an Eye; Taylor Swift Wrote Massive Check for Charity

Taylor Swift may be one of the most successful singers in the world, but she’s also known for her kind heart and generosity. A recent story shared by “Grey’s Anatomy” star Ellen Pompeo proves just that.

During her appearance on “The Jennifer Hudson Show”, Pompeo shared how Taylor donated a huge amount of money to a very special program at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA)—even though the two had just met.

What’s the Story Behind the Donation?

Ellen Pompeo and her husband, Chris Ivery, often volunteer at CHLA. One of the hospital’s unique programs supports babies in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) by playing recorded messages or lullabies from their parents throughout the day.

Why is this important?

When parents are working or cannot be with their baby, these recorded voices provide comfort and emotional connection. Research shows that this can lead to better health outcomes for the infants.

But like many hospital programs, it needs funding to continue.

Taylor Swift Stepped In Without Hesitation

Ellen recalled asking Taylor Swift for help:

“I asked Taylor, ‘Could you write me a big old check for Children’s?’ and she knew me all but 20 minutes and that girl wrote me the biggest check without blinking an eye.”

Despite barely knowing each other, Taylor agreed immediately and made a generous donation to support the NICU music program.

Pompeo described Taylor’s kindness as genuine and effortless. She didn’t ask questions or delay—she just gave.

Their Connection Through “Bad Blood” Music Video

Fans may remember that Ellen Pompeo appeared in Taylor Swift’s hit music video for “Bad Blood” alongside Mariska Hargitay, star of Law & Order: SVU.

Taylor is such a fan of both actresses that she even named her two cats after their characters: Meredith Grey (Pompeo’s role in Grey’s Anatomy) and Olivia Benson (Hargitay’s character in SVU).

Pompeo also shared that filming the video was a breeze:

“It was the easiest thing. I only spent an hour or two on set.”
