Burkburnett's Mother Remembers Her Deceased Son

The town of Burkburnett, Texas, is grieving the loss of a beloved young man. Memphis Parkey, a student at Burkburnett High School, sadly passed away on April 5, leaving behind a community heartbroken but filled with beautiful memories of the kind of person he was.

His mother, Larissa Parkey, is now speaking out, sharing her son’s story and asking the community to remember him and pray for the many lives he touched.

Remembering Memphis Parkey

Memphis wasn’t just a student — he was a bright light in the school, known for being a kind friend, a hardworking honor student, and someone who always helped others without being asked.

His mother shared:
“Memphis had a way of making everyone smile. He was deeply devoted to God, his family, and his friends. As an exceptional athlete, he had a passion for the outdoors, especially the countryside, and loved hunting and fishing.”

She also said that he always wanted to bring joy to those around him, and whenever someone needed help, Memphis was always ready to lend a hand.

Active in School and Community

Memphis was involved in many activities during his time at school. One of the groups he was passionate about was the FFA (Future Farmers of America), where he worked with other students on leadership and agricultural projects.

His teachers, classmates, and friends remember him as someone with a big heart, a strong faith, and a natural ability to lead and support others.

A Mother’s Heartfelt Message

Larissa Parkey has requested that the community continue to keep students, teachers, and friends who knew Memphis in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

She hopes people will remember the happiness he spread and the positive impact he had on everyone around him.
