Ex-In-Laws of Kellie Pickler Fire Another Shot in Battle Over Late Husband’s Estate

Country singer Kellie Pickler is facing fresh legal trouble from her late husband’s parents. Her former in-laws, Sharon and Reed Jacobs, have filed another subpoena as their battle over Kyle Jacobs’ estate continues.

Former In-Laws Demand Cremation Details

According to a report from In Touch, Sharon and Reed Jacobs have issued a subpoena to Harpeth Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Nashville. They’re asking the funeral home to provide documents related to their son Kyle Jacobs’ cremation.

They want to know what personal items were with Kyle when he arrived at the funeral home and what happened to those belongings. The Jacobs are also requesting details about how their son’s remains were handled.

However, they say the funeral home hasn’t responded to the subpoena, even though it hasn’t filed any formal objection.

A Long Legal Fight Over Kyle Jacobs’ Estate

This new subpoena is just one part of a bigger legal fight that has been going on between Pickler and Kyle’s family since his death. Kyle Jacobs, a well-known songwriter in Nashville, passed away in 2023 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the age of 49.

After his death, Pickler chose not to manage his estate, which meant her in-laws were appointed as co-administrators. But things quickly turned tense.

Pickler later sued them, claiming they entered her house and took personal items without her permission. The Jacobs, on the other hand, argue that those items rightfully belong to Kyle’s estate.

What the Family Wants From Pickler

The Jacobs say Pickler is holding onto items that belong to Kyle’s estate, including:

  • A gun collection
  • A Samurai sword
  • Expensive guitars and watches
  • Baseball card albums
  • School awards
  • A grand piano and viola
  • Kyle’s laptop, iPhone, and external hard drives

In March, the Jacobs even asked the court to hold Pickler in contempt for not responding to their earlier subpoena. But Pickler’s legal team hit back, saying she either doesn’t have the items or they belong to her. Her lawyers asked for the contempt request to be dismissed, saying there’s no real proof to support it.

How Kellie Pickler Is Moving Forward

Since Kyle’s death, Kellie Pickler has mostly stayed away from the public eye. But she made a quiet return to music in April 2024, performing her song “The Woman I Am” during a tribute concert for Patsy Cline in Nashville.

She also sold the home she once shared with Kyle and moved into a condo in downtown Nashville, showing signs that she’s slowly trying to heal and move forward.

A Painful Journey for Both Sides

The legal issues between Kellie Pickler and her former in-laws highlight the emotional and complicated problems that can arise after a loved one dies. Both sides are grieving and trying to protect what they believe is right. But as court battles go on, it’s clear that healing is still a long road ahead for everyone involved.
