This Weekend, Bravos, Locos, and Bravas Aim for More Success

This Weekend, Bravos, Locos, and Bravas Aim for More Success

It’s a big weekend for soccer fans in the Borderland as FC Juárez’s men’s and women’s teams and El Paso Locomotive FC return to action. Each team is looking to keep up their recent momentum as they fight for key points in their respective league campaigns.

Bravos Travel to Mexico City to Face Pumas

On Saturday evening, FC Juárez Bravos will take on Pumas UNAM, one of Mexico’s most historic clubs, in Mexico City. This will be a high-stakes clash, with both teams battling for playoff positioning in Liga MX.

The Bravos are currently unbeaten in their last three matches. Last weekend, they drew 1-1 against Atlas in Guadalajara — a match that head coach Martín Varini felt they should have won. Juárez currently sits in 9th place, while Pumas are right behind them in 10th with 17 points.

Pumas recently played a midweek CONCACAF Champions Cup match, which could leave them a bit tired for Saturday’s encounter — something the Bravos will try to take advantage of.

Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. MST and the match will be shown nationally on Univision, TUDN, and streaming on ViX.

El Paso Locomotive Head to Birmingham for Tough Road Stretch

El Paso Locomotive FC are riding a three-game win streak as they head to Birmingham, Alabama, on Sunday to face the Legion FC. This game marks the beginning of a challenging three-game road trip, which also includes matches in New Mexico and Colorado Springs.

The Locos have looked sharp lately, bouncing back after their only loss of the season to New Mexico United on March 22. Their opponents this weekend, Birmingham, have yet to win this season and sit in 10th place in the Eastern Conference.

Head coach Wilmer Cabrera knows this stretch will test the team:

“It’s going to be a tough week, but we’re focused on getting results. Right now, all attention is on Birmingham.”

Sunday’s match kicks off at 3 p.m. MST and will air nationally on CBS Sports Network.

Bravas Host San Luis in Crucial Playoff Match

The FC Juárez Bravas return home to host Atlético San Luis on Sunday evening at the Benito Juárez Olympic Stadium. After a two-week FIFA break, this will be the Bravas’ second-to-last match of the 2025 Clausura season.

They’re currently in 7th place with 22 points, but only five points separate them from several teams just outside the playoff zone. That makes this match against 14th-place San Luis — who are all but eliminated — a must-win if the Bravas want to secure a playoff spot.

Coming off a hard-earned 0-0 draw against powerhouse Tigres, the Bravas will aim to take full advantage of playing at home.

Kickoff is at 5 p.m. MST, and the game will be televised on Fox Deportes.
