Beto O’Rourke, former Democratic congressman for El Paso, hosted a Congressional and State Representative Town Hall in Wichita Falls on April 12, 2025.
The event, held at the Ray Clymer Exhibit Hall, was organized by Powered By People, the grassroots volunteer organization O’Rourke founded in 2019. O’Rourke’s mission has always been to mobilize voters and bring attention to important issues shaping the future of Texas and the country.
O’Rourke’s Appearance in Wichita Falls
During the town hall, O’Rourke smiled and waved as he entered the room to enthusiastic applause. He greeted the crowd, saying he was invited by people in Wichita Falls who wanted to discuss what the future of Texas and the nation might look like.
In his speech, O’Rourke shared his thoughts on the direction of the state and country, emphasizing the need for strong leadership and community involvement to create positive change.
Powered By People and Its Mission
The town hall was organized by Powered By People, a grassroots group founded by O’Rourke. The organization focuses on voter registration and mobilization, aiming to make sure every eligible voter in Texas gets the chance to have their voice heard in the political process.
The event gave attendees the opportunity to ask questions and engage directly with O’Rourke, who has been an advocate for issues ranging from voter rights to climate change.
O’Rourke’s Past Political Challenges and Future Speculations
O’Rourke, who challenged Senator Ted Cruz in 2018 and Governor Greg Abbott in 2022, has gained a large following in Texas. Although he did not win either race, his campaigns sparked significant interest and support across the state. Recently, his public appearances have led to questions about whether he is planning another run for political office.
At the event, a “Beto for Governor” sign could be seen outside the Ray Clymer Exhibit Hall, though it was not authorized by any candidate. The sign was paid for by the Denton County Democrats, fueling further speculation about O’Rourke’s potential political future.
A Packed Room and Engaged Audience
The event was well-attended, with Room No. 10 at the Ray Clymer Exhibit Hall filled to capacity. Guests stood and applauded as O’Rourke entered, and many others could be seen waiting in the hallway, eager to be part of the conversation.
