FOREST PARK, GA — A tragic incident that occurred late Saturday night has left the community mourning the loss of Amiya Cunningham, a 22-year-old woman identified by friends as the pedestrian fatally struck by a vehicle while dancing in the street.
According to the Forest Park Police Department, officers responded to a call at approximately 11:44 p.m. on April 26 reporting a pedestrian hit by a car near the intersection of Forest Parkway and Frontage Road.
What Happened?
Surveillance footage obtained by investigators and shared on social media shows a woman — later identified as Cunningham — bending over and dancing in the street moments before she is violently struck by an oncoming car. Witnesses described the moment as shocking and traumatic.
Emergency responders from the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office were already at the scene when Forest Park officers arrived. Cunningham was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, where she later died from her injuries.
