Wichita Falls Woman Arrested for Violating Probation After Theft Conviction

A Wichita Falls woman who was convicted of theft in 2024 has been arrested again for violating the terms of her probation. The woman, Amanda Lynn Straub, 37, had been serving a five-year probation sentence after admitting to stealing thousands of dollars from her former workplace.

Theft Case and Probation Details

Amanda Lynn Straub pleaded guilty on July 18, 2024, to stealing over $2,500 but under $30,000, a felony under Texas law. She was sentenced to five years of probation and ordered to complete 120 hours of community service.

The theft happened at JJ’s Fast Stop, a convenience store on Kell Boulevard and McNiel Avenue in Wichita Falls. Between January and April 2023, Straub was found to have stolen money from the register, along with lottery tickets and store items. According to police, the total amount stolen was $3,200.48.

Probation Violations and Arrest

On April 22, 2025, 30th District Court Judge Jeff McKnight approved a motion to move forward with the adjudication of guilt after prosecutors alleged that Straub had broken the rules of her probation.

Straub was booked into Wichita County Jail on May 1, 2025, but later posted a $10,001 bond and was released the same day.

Prosecutors say Straub admitted to using drugs just six days after her sentencing, on July 24, 2024. She also reportedly failed to find or keep a job, which was required as part of her probation conditions. In addition, she was more than 46 hours behind on her required community service work.

What Happens Next?

Now that the court has moved forward with the adjudication process, Straub could face harsher penalties, including possible jail time, if the court finds that she violated the terms of her sentence.

Straub had been previously fired from her job at JJ’s Fast Stop after the store’s manager discovered the theft. An affidavit states she was caught stealing both cash and merchandise, including lottery scratch-offs.
