A mother who moved to Oklahoma City with her three daughters for a fresh start is now left traumatized after federal agents raided the wrong house. What was supposed to be a peaceful new beginning turned into a terrifying experience that left the family emotionally shaken and without their belongings.
A Peaceful Move Turned Into a Nightmare
The mother, identified by media as Marissa, had recently moved from Maryland to Oklahoma with her daughters. They had only been in their new rental home for two weeks when, on the night of April 24, 2025, around 20 armed agents raided the house.
She says the agents claimed to be from the FBI, ICE, and U.S. Marshals, though the U.S. Marshals later denied participating in the raid. Marissa said she had no idea what was happening. It was dark, and all the lights were off when the agents barged in.
Children Forced Outside in the Rain, Half-Dressed
Marissa told reporters from KFOR that the agents pointed guns at her and her daughters, ordered them outside into the rain, and refused to let them change clothes.
“They wanted me to change in front of all of them,” she said. “Even my husband hasn’t seen my daughter in her undergarments—her own father. You have her out there, a minor, in her underwear.”
The Family Was Not the Target
Marissa did see the search warrant, but the names on it didn’t belong to her or anyone in her family. Instead, they matched the names on mail left behind by the previous residents. Later, Homeland Security confirmed that the former tenants were the real targets of a human smuggling investigation.
Treated Like Criminals Despite Being Innocent
Marissa tried to explain to the agents that she and her daughters were new to the area and innocent. “We just moved here from Maryland,” she said. “We’re citizens. That’s what I kept telling them.”
Despite her pleas, the agents continued the raid. They seized the family’s phones, laptops, and all the money they had brought with them for the move. “They treated us like criminals,” Marissa said. “We didn’t do anything.”
No Answers, No Help
Before the agents left, Marissa begged them for help. “You took our phone. We have no money. I have to feed my children,” she said. “How do you just leave me like this?”
An agent reportedly replied, “I know it was a little rough this morning.” To which Marissa responded, “You traumatized me and my daughters for life.”
Now, the family is left with nothing—not even a contact number to reclaim their property. Agents refused to leave a business card or tell Marissa who to contact. The FBI confirmed it was involved but said all questions should go to Homeland Security, which has yet to respond to inquiries from the press.
A Community Response
While the family waits for answers and the return of their belongings, a GoFundMe page has been started to help them recover. The fundraiser states the family is financially struggling and deeply traumatized by the incident.
Now, as Marissa and her daughters try to pick up the pieces, they are left coping with emotional scars, financial hardship, and uncertainty about when they’ll get back what was taken.
