'He Has No Regrets!' Brawl Erupts During the Sentencing of 19-Year-Old Who Fatally Shot a Teenager. Family Members on Both Sides Argue After the Victim's Mother Requests a 'Maximum Sentence'

A Kansas courtroom turned chaotic on April 8 when a brawl broke out during the sentencing of Te’bryis Robinson, a 19-year-old convicted in the 2022 shooting death of 14-year-old TrenJ’vious “Tubby” Hutton.

The emotional outburst happened inside the Sedgwick County Courthouse in Wichita, where Hutton’s family members had gathered to hear the court’s decision.

The case stems from a tragic incident in March 2022 at Towne East Square Mall. Robinson, then 16 years old, opened fire during a conflict with a different group. One of his bullets struck 14-year-old Hutton, who was not involved in the dispute.

Witnesses attempted to save Hutton’s life, but he sadly died at the scene.

Robinson was charged as an adult and later pleaded no contest to second-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, and aggravated battery in July 2023.

Mother’s Plea for Justice Sparks Chaos

Before sentencing, Hutton’s mother, Jeannette Dees, gave an emotional statement. She urged the judge to give Robinson the maximum sentence, expressing frustration that the young man had shown no remorse and had even released a song called “Tubby Attack,” allegedly boasting about the killing.

“You shoulda just walked away. You didn’t have to kill my f—ing son,” she shouted at Robinson.

The statement quickly led to a heated exchange between members of both families, and the situation escalated when a punch was thrown. More family members joined the fight, creating a brief courtroom melee.

Charges Filed After Courtroom Brawl

Law enforcement swiftly broke up the fight, which lasted less than a minute. Video from KSNW shows officers separating and removing individuals from the courtroom.

Now, six people face misdemeanor disorderly conduct charges, including:

  • Jeannette Dees (Hutton’s mother)
  • Derrick E. Parker, 33
  • Trentasia Hutton, 24
  • Trentez Hutton, 21
  • Trentavies Hutton, 18
  • An unnamed 16-year-old boy

All were charged by the district attorney’s office.

Robinson Sentenced to 21 Years

After the courtroom was restored to order, Robinson was sentenced to 21 years and three months in prison.

The sentencing ends a long and emotional legal process for Hutton’s family, though the courtroom outburst shows just how raw and painful the loss still is.
