WICHITA FALLS — Officers from the Wichita Falls Independent School District Police Department arrested a Memorial High School student after he allegedly punched another student in the face in the hallway during school hours.
Cameron John Sidney Stewart, of Wichita Falls, was arrested and booked into the Wichita County Jail on Monday, March 17, 2025, on charges of aggravated assault. He was released from custody the next day after his $50,000 bond was posted.
According to the arrest affidavit, an officer from the WFISD Police Department was on duty at Memorial High School on Monday, March 17, just after 2:10 p.m., when he was summoned to an upstairs hallway for an ongoing altercation.
The WFISD officer stated that as he approached the hallway, an assistant principal was escorting a student involved in the altercation. The student, later identified as Stewart, stated, “I knocked him out,” according to the officer.
According to the affidavit, a WFISD officer arrived at the scene and discovered another student lying on the floor next to a classroom. According to the officer, the victim was “making a gargling sound and bleeding from his mouth.”
According to the affidavit, the officer stated that when the student victim “came to”, he was unaware of what had occurred. The officer stated that the victim was perplexed and asked what had happened several times, despite the fact that an assistant principal had told him multiple times.
The officer stated that the victim remained confused, and that while he was able to answer some of the questions posed to him, he kept stopping and asking what had happened.
According to the WFISD officer, two of the victim’s teeth were found on the hallway floor.
According to the affidavit, the WFISD officer then went to the assistant principal’s office, where Stewart was found. The assistant principal informed the officer that Stewart had told her he was the one who hit the victim.
The officer stated that he reviewed security footage of the altercation. He claimed he saw Stewart run toward the victim, but the victim did not see him. He said he saw Stewart swing a closed right fist at the victim’s face.
According to the affidavit, the WFISD officer saw the victim fall to the ground before Stewart grabbed his headphones and walked away.
