A Woman From New Mexico Has Been Arrested for the 2022 Murder in Wichita Falls

Janea Aragon of New Mexico is in custody in connection with the 2022 murder of a Wichita Falls man who, according to authorities, suffered more than half a dozen stab wounds.

Aragon was originally from New Mexico, and authorities believe she returned there after the murder for which she has now been arrested.

According to an affidavit for Aragon’s arrest, investigators discovered a burned-out cigarette that had been left lit at the scene, as well as a disconnected gas line, leading authorities to believe it was an attempt to cover up the crime scene with an explosion.

The DNA on the cigarette filter was matched to Aragon, but the gas valve on the disconnected line remained in the off position, indicating that no explosion occurred.
