The Wichita Falls community is grieving the heartbreaking loss of John “Kramer” Barnard, a sixth-grade student at Barwise Middle School, who tragically died following a UTV (Utility Task Vehicle) crash on Friday. His passing has left classmates, teachers, and loved ones in deep sorrow.
What Happened?
According to Wichita County Sheriff David Duke, the accident happened while Kramer was driving a UTV and attempted to take a curve near a brush pile. The vehicle tipped onto its side, injuring him. Emergency services rushed Kramer to the hospital, but despite all efforts, he could not survive the injuries.
The incident has shocked many, especially at Barwise Middle School, where Kramer was known for his energetic and friendly nature.
School and Community Offer Support
Following the news, Barwise Principal Peter Braveboy shared a heartfelt message on Facebook, assuring families that the school is working to provide emotional support for students.
“We have plans to have additional support counselors and others present to help as needed,” Braveboy said.
In a touching display of unity, a group of sixth-grade students has organized a tribute for Kramer. On Tuesday, they plan to wear white in his honor, and Braveboy encouraged the entire school campus to join the movement.
“We would be grateful if our entire campus joined the sixth graders in dressing in white tomorrow,” Braveboy added.
WFISD Statement and Family Tribute
The Wichita Falls Independent School District (WFISD) also released a statement mourning the loss. Kramer was the son of John Barnard, a current WFISD board member, adding another layer of sadness for the local education community.
“Wichita Falls ISD is heartbroken over the sudden and tragic passing of Barwise Middle School sixth-grade student, John Kramer Barnard. Kramer was a vibrant and involved member of our school community,” the district said.
Kramer previously attended Ben Franklin Elementary and was known for his cheerful personality and school spirit.
