Wichita Falls, Texas – Police are staying quiet about details surrounding one or more ongoing murder investigations, but what is clear is that three women have been charged with aggravated perjury after allegedly lying under oath during a court hearing linked to the cases.
According to Sgt. Brett Keith, spokesperson for the Wichita Falls Police Department, the women were involved in a court proceeding related to a “major investigation” and were later found to have given false statements.
Who Are the Women Involved?
The three women charged are:
- Latarrah Waynette Roberts, of Wichita Falls
- Zelma Elizabeth Barry, of Wichita Falls
- Brittany Marie Johnson, of Fort Worth
All three were charged with aggravated perjury connected to a March 19, 2025, court proceeding at the Wichita County Courthouse. Each woman was released on a $150,000 bond, according to jail records.
Aggravated perjury is a third-degree felony in Texas, which can result in a prison sentence of up to 10 years if the accused are convicted.
Brittany Marie Johnson
Johnson was arrested on March 27 and released the next day. According to her arrest affidavit, she lied under oath during a court hearing about a murder investigation.
She claimed that she never saw a man with a gun the night of a murder. But in a Feb. 25 recorded police interview, she had told officers that a man had what appeared to be a rifle or shotgun. She even described how the man tapped the barrel of the gun on a car window where she was sitting with another person. The second person got out of the car to talk to the man with the gun.
Zelma Elizabeth Barry
Barry was arrested and released on March 29. Her affidavit states that she lied about having contact with the same man who allegedly had the gun.
She testified that after her Feb. 26 police interview, the man came to her home, but she hadn’t spoken to him on the phone. However, evidence from Facebook Messenger showed that she had made four video calls with him after her interview, contradicting her statement in court.
Latarrah Waynette Roberts
Roberts was arrested on March 31 and released the same day. She also testified under oath during the March 19 court hearing, stating that she had no contact with the same man after police interviewed her on March 3.
But according to her affidavit, police found that she texted the man on March 4, just one day after the interview, which goes against what she claimed in court.
What Do We Know About the Murder Cases?
Police have not released any information about the victim or victims, when or where the murders took place, or who the suspects are in the murder investigations.
Although all three women were questioned about a specific man connected to both murder investigations — and reportedly involving a gun — there are no current murder charges filed against the man or men mentioned in the affidavits, according to Wichita County online records.
Investigation Still Active
The police have only said that the perjury charges are part of a larger ongoing investigation involving two murder cases. They have not shared whether more arrests will follow or when the public will learn further details.
As always, the women are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
