Allred Unit Inmate Sentenced to 25 Years for 2019 Prison Murder

A prison inmate at the Allred Unit has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for the murder of fellow inmate Delandro Coridro Hamilton in 2019, according to court records.

William Wallace, 49, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in 30th District Court and received his sentence on Thursday, court documents confirmed.

What Happened?

Wallace was convicted for killing Delandro Hamilton, 31, on September 28, 2019, while both were inmates at the Allred Unit, a state prison in Texas.

In his confession, Wallace admitted to strangling or asphyxiating Hamilton. Correction officers discovered Hamilton unresponsive on his bunk, and he was quickly moved to the prison’s medical unit.

Emergency responders from outside the prison arrived and attempted life-saving measures, but Hamilton was pronounced dead at 6:15 a.m.

Sentencing and Jail Credit

District Judge Jeff McKnight handed down the 25-year prison sentence to Wallace. The court also credited him with 388 days already served in connection with the case, as noted in court documents.

Under Texas law, murder is punishable by 5 to 99 years or life in prison.

Background on the Inmates

At the time of the incident, William Wallace was serving time for burglary convictions from Milam and Burleson counties.

Delandro Hamilton was in prison for an eight-year sentence after being convicted for possession of a weapon in Harris County, according to a TRN article dated May 20, 2024.
