At Coachella, Brian May joins Benson Boone for Bohemian Rhapsody

Coachella 2025 had many big moments, but one of the most unforgettable came when Queen legend Brian May made a surprise appearance during Benson Boone’s set. The 77-year-old guitarist joined Boone on stage for an epic performance of Queen’s classic, Bohemian Rhapsody.

Fans were shocked and thrilled as May appeared mid-song, adding his signature guitar sound to the emotional and dramatic track. The moment quickly became one of the weekend’s biggest highlights.

A Royal Entrance for “Bohemian Rhapsody”

The performance began with a choir singing the iconic opening lines of Bohemian Rhapsody. Boone, dressed in a shiny sequined outfit with a royal cape, walked toward a grand piano. Known for his dramatic stage moves, Boone started playing the piano part and then flipped off of it mid-performance — a move fans have come to expect from him.

As the song built toward its famous guitar solo, Boone stepped aside — and that’s when the magic happened.

Brian May Rises to Rock the Stage

Right at the song’s most powerful moment, Brian May emerged from below the stage surrounded by bright lights and guitar riffs. The crowd went wild as the legendary guitarist began shredding the solo that fans around the world know by heart.

Brian May, everybody!” Boone announced proudly, letting the rock icon take over. May continued to play throughout the rest of the song, giving fans a fresh yet nostalgic take on the classic hit.

Boone Closes With “Beautiful Things”

After the incredible Queen tribute, May stayed on stage as Boone wrapped up his set with his chart-topping song, Beautiful Things. Boone told the crowd, “It has changed my life this year and I hope you enjoy it,” as fireworks exploded in the background and, of course, more flips followed.

The combination of heartfelt lyrics, stunning visuals, and surprise guests made it a closing to remember.

Brian May’s Coachella Tease on Social Media

Earlier that day, May hinted something might happen. On social media, he posted a photo of himself sitting across from Boone on an airplane, with the caption:

“Look who I bumped into on the way to the fabled Palm Springs. Maybe something will happen?!”

In a follow-up post, he praised Boone, calling him “a truly golden 22-year-old prodigy” and said he was “proud and happy to say we are now officially pals.
