Black Bear Spotted Roaming Around Gas Station in North Texas

It’s not something you see every day – a black bear casually strolling through a gas station in North Texas. But that’s exactly what happened recently in Savoy, Texas, about 70 miles north of Dallas.

A young black bear was caught on camera at the gas station, strolling toward the pumps as a car sat nearby. The bear wandered around for a while, exploring the area, before turning around and heading back into the wild.

A Surprising Sight for One Man

In another video, a man walks away from the gas station, completely unaware that the bear is quietly wandering just behind him. The bear, for its part, seems just as uninterested in the man, minding its own business and taking its time.

Why Are Bears Wandering Around?

Texas Parks and Wildlife confirmed the sighting and explained that it’s not that unusual for this time of year. Apparently, young bears often leave their mothers around this season to begin exploring life on their own. Sometimes, this means they end up in very random places – like near a Slushie machine or waiting at pump number 2 for a fill-up!

What Should You Do If You See a Bear?

Officials are reminding people to stay calm and give the bear plenty of space. They also caution against trying to feed it, even if you have some leftover breakfast tacos in your car. Bears are typically not looking for trouble and will usually move on if they’re not crowded.

If you spot a bear, it’s important to report it to Texas Parks and Wildlife or a Texas Game Warden. They are tracking these sightings as part of their efforts to monitor wildlife. After all, the wild is the bear’s home too… even if it does occasionally overlap with pump number 2.
