A respected music teacher and local educator, Bruce Canafax, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, April 2. He was well-known in the Wichita Falls community for his dedication to teaching and love for music.

Bruce Canafax was a former music theory and guitar teacher at Rider High School and later served as a music professor at Midwestern State University (MSU). His passing was shared by Rider High School’s band and orchestra Facebook page, where students and fellow teachers expressed their sadness and paid tribute to his memory.

Canafax graduated from Rider High School in 1972. His journey came full circle when he returned to his alma mater in 1998 to teach music. Just a year later, he joined MSU as a professor in 1999, where he continued to share his deep knowledge of music with university students.
