California’s CalFresh program (the local name for SNAP Benefits) will distribute March 2025 allocations between the 1st and 10th of the month. Allocation is determined by the last digit of each beneficiary’s case number.
The maximum amounts include increases for the cost of living adjustment (COLA), which will be effective from October 2024 to September 2025.
According to the official schedule, funds will be loaded onto EBT cards on certain dates. Cases ending in 1 will be paid on March 1, and those ending in 0 will be paid on March 10. Even though March 1 and 2 are weekends, deposits will be made without delay.

Recipients can check their EBT card balances after the assigned date. “For inquiries, the telephone line 1-877-847-3663 is available,” said a spokesperson we spoke with. The funds are only for food; they cannot be used for non-food purchases or cash withdrawals.
An official explained, “The system allows uploads on weekends if the date falls on a Saturday or Sunday.” This applies to payments made on March 1 and 2, allowing recipients to receive their benefits earlier.
Remember that CalFresh benefits can only be used to buy food, not soap, toilet paper, alcohol, tobacco, vitamins, medications, or pet food. However, it is legal to purchase seeds and plants for home gardens in order to produce food.
It is also worth noting that, while specific changes for March 2025 were not mentioned in the sources consulted, disaster waivers exist, such as automatic benefit replacements due to wildfires in certain areas, with loss reports accepted until March 6, 2025 in counties like Los Angeles and Ventura.
