Captured Arrested Texas Fugitive After Leaving the State

The Texas Department of Public Safety recently announced that they had apprehended someone on the Texas Ten Most Wanted Sex Offender list who had been wanted out of Abilene since 2024.

Who Was Texas DPS’ Recent Arrest?

Raymond Lee Trejo, 35, was apprehended on March 12 in Stilwell, Oklahoma by several agencies, including the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Special Applications Branch of the Cherokee Nation Marshal Service, and the Stilwell Police Department.

Why was Raymond Trejo wanted out of Texas?

Texas DPS posted information about Trejo’s arrest on Facebook:

The 35-year-old had been wanted out of Taylor County since May 2024 for “failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements,” according to Texas DPS.

This stemmed from an incident in 2009 in which Trejo was found guilty of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl when he was around 19 years old. Following his conviction, he was sentenced to 10 years in a Texas prison.

Trejo’s criminal history also includes the following charges:

  • Sexual Assault
  • Fail to Comply Sex Offender Duty to Register
  • Assault Causes Bodily Injury
  • Driving While License Invalid

All Thanks to Texas Crime Stoppers

Trejo was arrested as a result of Texas Crime Stoppers’ efforts with the Governor’s Public Safety Office. Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest of any fugitive on the Top 10 Most Wanted list.

This incentive has resulted in the arrests of 16 fugitives, sex offenders, and others in 2025 alone.
