Carrie Underwood might be known for her powerful voice, glamorous looks, and big stage performances, but behind the scenes, she enjoys a calm and simple life. While fans see her as a perfectionist on shows like American Idol, she’s also a hands-on farm mom who loves baking, gardening, and caring for animals. And now, she’s picked up a new hobby — crocheting!

Carrie Underwood Tries Her Hand at Crocheting

Earlier this month, Carrie shared with her fans that she’s learning how to crochet. Even though she just started, she’s already making good progress. She posted photos of some adorable crochet pieces she’s made — including daisy-patterned pot holders.

One picture had the caption: “Getting the hang of it…”, while another photo showed four neatly made pot holders, with the excited caption: “I’m. So. Excited!! I’m getting better!!!!”. She added a funny hashtag too: #IDoGrannyThings.

Her fans loved seeing this softer, homely side of her, which is quite different from her stage personality. It’s clear that when Carrie does something, even if it’s just for fun, she puts her whole heart into it.

A Life Away From the Spotlight

When Carrie is not performing or judging on American Idol, she prefers staying at home. She spends time with her two kids and enjoys baking bread, growing vegetables, and taking care of farm animals. Her life at home is peaceful and grounded, which gives her a nice balance from her busy career.

One of her most well-known animals is a sheep named Gary — and he’s known to be quite a handful! But Carrie doesn’t mind the hard work that comes with farm life.

Carrie Saves Her Egg-Bound Hen

Carrie also showed just how caring she is when one of her hens became egg bound. This condition is serious in chickens and can even lead to death if not treated. On the same night her season of American Idol premiered, Carrie was busy looking after her sick hen.

She gave the chicken warm baths, gentle massages, and lots of care. Luckily, her efforts paid off — a few days later, the chicken was healthy enough to return to the coop with the rest of the flock.

Fans were touched by how dedicated she was and appreciated her sharing real-life moments from her farm.
