Robert Irwin, the 21-year-old son of the late wildlife legend Steve Irwin, is stepping into a whole new kind of spotlight. Known for his love of animals and wildlife conservation, Robert surprised fans by becoming the face of a bold new underwear campaign for the famous Australian brand Bonds.
While we’re used to seeing him in khakis wrestling crocs or hanging out with snakes, this time he’s showing off a very different side of himself — almost baring it all in nature!
Robert Irwin’s Big Moment With Bonds
Robert is now part of Bonds’ new campaign for their Chafe Off line of boxer briefs. In the photos, Robert is seen outdoors in nature, wearing the underwear and posing confidently — even with reptiles! One photo shows a snake casually resting on his shoulders, and in another, he’s holding a large lizard called a perentie.
Talking about the shoot, Robert admits he didn’t need much convincing. “I wish I could say I was very cool and calm about it, but really I just said, ‘Yes! Let’s do it!’” he shared.
He said Bonds is a huge brand in Australia, and he’s always up for exciting challenges. “If something makes me nervous or it’s a bit of an adrenaline rush, I want to go for it,” Robert added.
What His Family Thinks About It
Some might wonder what the Irwin family thinks of Robert’s daring photoshoot. But it turns out, they’ve been completely supportive.
His brother-in-law Chandler Powell, who is a professional athlete, helped him get into shape for the campaign. “Chandler gave me some great workout tips,” Robert said.
And as for his mom, Terri Irwin? “She actually did bodybuilding!” Robert proudly shared. “She had more biceps than I’ll ever have.”
Getting Ready for the Campaign
Even though Robert stays active working with animals at Australia Zoo, he took extra steps to prepare for the Bonds photoshoot. He worked hard to get fit, followed a strict diet, and pushed himself in workouts.
“I’ve done more sit-ups and eaten fewer carbs than ever before,” he laughed. “But it was fun! I’m representing Australia, and I wanted to look and feel my best.”
Why This Matters
This campaign shows a new side of Robert Irwin. While he’s still passionate about animals and conservation, he’s also exploring new adventures and stepping out of his comfort zone.
It’s a fun reminder that people — even those we think we know — are always growing and trying new things. Robert’s move into fashion shows he’s confident, brave, and proud to represent Australia in more ways than one.
