Dangerous Heat to Grip Georgia Through Wednesday

Atlanta, Georgia – Dangerous heat is set to intensify across Georgia, with heat indices expected to climb between 98°F and 105°F in northern and central regions starting this weekend and continuing through Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Atlanta, the heat will become more oppressive early next week, with humid conditions pushing heat index values well above 100°F in the metro Atlanta area by Sunday. Vulnerable groups, including children, the elderly, and those without reliable cooling, are at heightened risk as the heat persists.

In Atlanta, daily heat indices are forecast to stay in the mid-90s through Friday, then surge past 100°F from Sunday through Wednesday. Public health officials are urging residents to limit outdoor activities, stay well-hydrated, and check on neighbors, especially during the peak heat hours of 12 to 6 p.m..

In contrast, cooler conditions are expected in the Pacific Northwest from June 21–25, with below-normal temperatures offering a rare break from summer heat in cities like Seattle and Portland.

Georgia residents should brace for extended heat exposure, with more advisories likely if conditions worsen.
