A shocking and heartbreaking incident took place early Monday morning in Denton County, Texas. A respected Republican elected official, Commissioner Bobbie Mitchell, was seriously injured, and her husband, Fred Mitchell, sadly lost his life in a violent stabbing attack at their home.
What Happened in Lewisville, Texas?
The Lewisville Police Department responded to a call just before 4 AM about an assault at a home on Springwood Drive. When officers arrived, they found both Commissioner Mitchell and her husband suffering from stab wounds.
According to FOX 4 News, the attack happened inside their home, shocking the peaceful neighborhood.
Sadly, Fred Mitchell did not survive the attack, while Commissioner Bobbie Mitchell was rushed to the hospital. She underwent surgery and, thankfully, is expected to recover from her injuries.
Who Is the Suspect?
The police arrested 23-year-old Mitchell Blake Reinacher, who is the grandson of Bobbie and Fred Mitchell.
Reinacher lived at the home with his grandparents. He was taken into custody without any resistance at the scene.
He now faces serious charges, including:
- Murder, and
- Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
According to FOX 4, he is being held on a $600,000 bond.
As of now, police are still investigating and have not yet determined a clear motive for the attack.
