Clarksville, MO – A tornado that struck eastern Missouri on Wednesday morning during a round of severe storms has been officially rated EF-1 by the National Weather Service.
The tornado developed in Pike County, Missouri, just south of Clarksville, and crossed the Mississippi River into Calhoun County, Illinois. It stayed on the ground for approximately four minutes, from 10:55 a.m. to 10:59 a.m., before dissipating.
Tornado Details
According to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, the EF-1 tornado produced maximum winds of 104 mph. It carved a 3.6-mile-long path, spanning 100 yards in width. Thankfully, no injuries or fatalities were reported due to the tornado.
Severe Weather Outbreak
This tornado was part of a larger severe weather outbreak that impacted eastern Missouri and southern Illinois on Wednesday. The storm system brought damaging winds, heavy rain, and prompted multiple weather alerts, including tornado watches and thunderstorm warnings across the region.
Damage and Ongoing Assessment
Emergency management teams and weather officials have been surveying the damage, particularly near Clarksville and across the river in Calhoun County. While there has been some structural damage reported, the full extent of the damage is still being assessed.
